Diamond Nights - The Girl’s Attractive

Ok, this is my favorite song of the moment. I first heard on it FUSE’s The P.A. and now it is featured on the new Jaguar XK convertible commercial. The song is just awesome. Its reminiscent of 80s rock and is very Billy Idol esque; it makes you want to bob your head and tap your toes. It’s the kind of song that they can play in a strip club and not be trashy.

MIMS - This is Why I’m Hot

Ok so this song is pretty basic, but it’s not that bad. It has a nice simple beat and an interesting style where different regional influences are injected at various times throughout the song. It’s a radio hit so backpackers need not apply.

All the Rage

All the Rage plays teenage pop/rock, but they don’t suck. They are from Riverside and they play local shows around So Cal. Recently they were played on the Los Angeles radio station KROQ on the morning show. I think they’re pretty good, and normally I don’t like this kind of music. Hip Hop : Ugly Duckling

If you like old school hip hop values and old school sounds, then Ugly Duckling may be what you are looking for. They take hip hop music back to being fun without being too braggadocio. Awesome upbeat style that makes you smile and dance.

Gotan Project

Ok this band is more than awesome. They are a trio of French and Argentinian talent with a sound that mixes traditional latin american tango music with trip hop beats. The mix makes for some really chill music. The best song off their third album, Lunático, is Mi Confession. You may recognize their music as it is featured a lot on the television show Nip/Tuck.

Music : Shock Stars

The Shock Stars are from Chicago. They’re music has an electronic-ish new wave vibe to it, but it also sounds kinda rock indie-ish. “Trying too Hard” and “Take Him Back” are awesome.

New Wave : Drugscene

So more new wave music from a band, though they describe themselves as rock/indie. They call themselves drugscene. As far as I can tell, they are from Los Angeles and that’s all I really know about them. Oh yeah, one of their songs, Coronation, kicks ass; they have other great songs too but Coronation is awesome.

Mistah F.A.B. - Ghost Ride It

I know some people seem to be genetically opposed to hyphy, but this song is crazy. Love the ghostbusters sample.

Madrepore

So more cool music from a band. I don’t know much about this one, but they do rock and are apparently from Los Angeles. Their style certainly ranges from reggae-tinged alt rock on “give me love” to some harder stuff. Check them out.
